Spark plugs replace only on cold or slightly warm engine. If candles are turned out on the hot engine, the carving of a head of the cylinders executed from easy metal can be broken.

Before the work beginning prepare all necessary tools. Some manufacturers of spark plugs deliver special tools for measurement of a candle backlash.

  • Candle key on 16 mm, for example, HAZET 4766-1 or AUDI-3122В.
  • At necessity, stripper AUDI Т40039 for ignition coils.
  • Depending on number of cylinders of the engine necessary quantity of spark plugs. Applied spark plugs are listed in Specifications.

The best way of replacement of spark plugs is preliminary purchase of new candles, adjustment of their backlash and replacement of each candle by turns. At purchase of candles very important to choose those candles which are intended for the engine of your car. The information on them is resulted in Specifications.

Having near at hand new candles, allow to the engine to cool down completely before the beginning of removal of the old. In this time it is possible to examine new candles on presence in them of defects and to check up candle backlashes.

Security measures: do not concern the parts which are under a high voltage. The persons having a warm stimulator, should not spend any works with electronic system of ignition.

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Switch off ignition.
  1. Remove the top cover of the engine, address to Section Removal and installation of the top cover of the engine / the bottom protection of an impellent compartment/stretcher.
  1. Disunite sockets (1) spark plugs (an illustration - the Engine 1.6).
  1. Disunite connecting tips (1) coils of ignition (an illustration - the Engine 1.6).
  1. Disconnect rod coils of ignition from spark plugs, for example, stripper AUDI Т40039.

Stripper Т40039 establish necessarily on the uppermost, thick edge (an arrow on an accompanying illustration) coils of ignition and pull upwards. At installation on the bottom edge it can be damaged.

The engine of 2.0 l

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Turn out bolts (1).
  1. Disunite sockets (2) coils of ignition.
  1. Remove стрежневые coils of ignition (3), as on the engine of 1.8 l, from spark plugs, for example, stripper Т40039.

The engine of 3.0 l

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove the top part of the air filter, address to Section Removal and installation of the air filter.
  2. Disconnect a broad tank of a cooling liquid from the holder and take him aside with the attached hoses.
  1. Turn out screws (1). On an accompanying illustration the right number of cylinders is shown.
  1. Disunite sockets (2) coils of ignition (3).
  2. Disconnect rod coils of ignition (3), as at the engine of 1.8 l, from spark plugs, for example, by means of stripper Т40039.

The engine of 4.2 l

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove the air filter.
  2. Remove the left top cover of an impellent compartment.
  3. Disconnect a broad tank of a cooling liquid from the holder and take him aside with the attached hoses.
  1. Turn out screws (1). On an accompanying illustration the right number of cylinders is shown.
  1. Disunite sockets (2) coils of ignition.
  2. Disconnect rod coils of ignition (3), as at the engine of 1.8 l, from spark plugs, for example, by means of stripper Т40039.

All engines

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Turn out spark plugs by means of a corresponding candle key, for example, HAZET 4766-1 or AUDI. Thus watch that the candle key did not warp. Otherwise it can lead to destruction of a ceramic insulator.

Check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Compare the taken out candle with shown on pictures in the Head of System of an electric equipment of the engine, it will give you the helpful information on the general condition of the engine.
  2. Check up probeом interelectrode distance. On illustrations the candle with one electrode of weight is shown. Demanded value of a backlash is resulted in Specifications.

At new candles the interelectrode distance, as a rule, is established correctly.

  1. For distance installation between contacts turn in a corresponding electrode of weight. For this purpose knock on it sideways. At подгибании обоприте a small screw-driver about carving edge. Do not lean at all about the central electrode as it can be damaged.
  2. Put a little медьсодержащего antitaking structure on a carving of a new candle.

Installation

Establish a candle in a head of cylinders and screw its fingers against the stop, then tighten by means of a head of a candle key.

In order to avoid possibility ввинчивания candles not on a carving put on its shaft a small piece of a rubber hose or a plastic tube. The flexible tube will work as universal - карданный the hinge, providing candle alignment in relation to a candle nest and in case the candle will start to warp, the hose will slip on it, without giving possibility to strip a thread.

If it is possible, use for a candle tightening динамометрический a key to be assured that it is established correctly. The effort of a tightening of candles is resulted in Specifications. If динамометрического the key available is not present, tighten new candles on a corner 90 °, candles were in the use - on 15 °. The too strongly delayed candles at a reversing can damage a carving in a head of cylinders. In this case carving repair is made by means of inserts UTC or Heli-Coil.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. The further installation is carried out in sequence, return to removal.
  2. All engines, except 1.6 l: Establish ignition coils easy turn. They should be fixed distinctly.
  3. The engine of 1.6 l: Join sockets. Then check up reliability of fastening of wires and sockets.
  4. Establish into place the top cover of the engine, address to Section Removal and installation of the top cover of the engine / the bottom protection of an impellent compartment/stretcher.
